Crafted as an evolution of the 2018 "Hopeful Monster", this work seamlessly blends the profound traditions and mystique of Japanese Yokai into a contemporary art tapestry. Yokai, entrenched in Japanese folklore, have long been emblematic of life's mysteries, our natural surroundings, and the inexplicable. These ethereal beings, mirroring our deepest fears, aspirations, and quandaries, have metamorphosed alongside societal and cultural shifts.

Leveraging my foundation in philosophy and anthropology, I've intertwined this folklore essence with modern societal nuances, carving a novel artistic direction.

With the integration of advanced acceleration sensors, the yokai dynamically react to their environment and human movement, emanating a lifelike, breathing presence.

These modern-day reimagined yokai elucidate the confluence of urban dynamism and age-old tales. Showcased for a 4-month spell near Tokyo Station, the piece beautifully marries the enigma of age-old yokai with the prowess of contemporary tech.
